What is Renew?
Renew is a network of believers who are committed to strong biblical theology for the purpose of making disciples of all nations. Renew posts daily Christian articles, publishes books and ebooks, coaches churches, hosts learning communities for senior leaders, features regional and national gatherings, and sponsors Renew University. In addition our partner organization, Renew Church Planting, trains and sends church planters around the nation.
What is Renew University?
Renew University is a ministry of Renew Network designed to provide an educational environment for the church and its believers. The program has two wings: the Certificate program, which offers a two-year training program for the serious believer, and the App, which offers free and easy to access material on a host of issues.
What does Renew believe?
You can look at Renew’s Faith Statement at this link https://renew.org/about/faith-statement/ All of Renew’s teachers and writers are aligned with this faith statement, assuring that you know what you’re getting when you use Renew Resources.
What is a cohort?
In Renew University a cohort is a group of fellow students who go through the certificate program together, building friendships, sharing information, and inspiring one another. A typical cohort is composed of ten or fewer students and a cohort leader, who coordinates the cohort’s activities. The cohort launches together and stays together throughout the two-year certification program.
What is the RenewU Certificate?
The RenewU Certificate is a document that one receives after graduating the Certification program. The Certificate witnesses to others that you have worked through a serious study of theology and ministry and are fully prepared for any role in church work or other ministry. The RenewU certification program contains many of the same courses you would take at a seminary or Bible college.
How do the online courses actually work?
The RenewU courses are taught over a two-year period. You can join at any time during this two year period, starting with whatever course is showing at that time. From that point forward, you will be in the program for two years, taking all of the courses online. Upon the launch of your cohort, you will be able to watch the courses as they are posted online, with previous courses remaining available for several months. With each course you will read one book, memorize ten Scriptures, and take a pass/fail final exam. The courses are thorough, but aimed at the everyday believer.
Who are the RenewU teachers?
RenewU has carefully selected teachers who both possess an advanced degree and have ministry experience. All RenewU teachers are aligned with Renew’s faith statement. The teachers know their material, but they also care about you. They want their material to help you in ministry, and they teach accordingly. For a list of our teachers, go here.
Can I audit the RenewU certificate courses?
Yes, but we strongly discourage merely auditing the courses. Rather, we encourage you to be part of a cohort and do the work for the courses so that you can maximize your learning at RenewU. The program does not ask too much of its students, but by fully participating in the program you can gain much more than if you merely audit. The cost of auditing is the same as the cost of enrolling.
Are scholarships available?
At this point, no, though we are working to raise the funds to endow several scholarships. We don’t want money to prevent you from enrolling in the program, so we have kept the tuition very low. We encourage you to contact your church leaders about sponsoring you. Soon we hope to be able to fund some needs-based scholarships.
